Christmas in Waste in the Awudome Estate

Christmas as a Child in the Awudome Estate was characterised by “Knock-out”, Palm branch huts & little parties, but definetly a clean enviroment as parents will expect visitors.

But what did I see when I visited the Awudome Estate on Christmas day & Boxing Day, the area of my birth. This is where my Mum still live, there is rubbish everywhere and the whole place is engulf in great stench. Everybody’s wastbins are over flowing with gabbage & the streets are a terrible site to behold.

Speaking to my Mum she says that though they have paid for the Service, she hears that the Waste Collection Agency have not paid their staff. You see I have also been a bad Journalist, but I can be forgiven, I do not profess to be one, I did not get the name of the Company. But whoever is in charge of the Waste collection in the Awudome Estate should be up & doing. Mr. Mayor the buck ends at your table, what are you doing about this, please deal with it.

Once you are it, the Squatters at the Awudome Cemetry, at least that is what you make us believe based on what you told Daily Graphic, that the fitters operating there do not have permission to be there. But they are still there weeks after you promise to eject them. Why is it taking you so long. Please deal with it.

I am told that a recent survey carried out rate Accra among the cleanest 6 is it in West Africa or Africa. But who am I an untravelled Anlo boy to dispute that, but I do not feel so & my 6 year old son definitely do not also see so. So Mr. Mayor lets fix it & become the Millennium City we all want to live in

Boss, you’ve painted a true picture. Our systems seem to have broken down so much. No one holds anybody responsible for their actions or inactions anymore. I wonder where we are heading as a society. We all need to sit-up.

True that but all is not lost, we all need to do our part & trust God to do the rest & we will get there. But God will not do what we ought to do for us, He has given us all the brains.
