Operation Vanguard update for 1st August

The various Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) of Operation Vanguard conducted patrols between 30 July and 1 August 2018, which have led to the arrest of 38 Ghanaian illegal miners at various sites. The patrols were conducted at Okyerekrom, Annorkrom and Hweneso NO1 in the Atwima-Mponua and the Atwima Kwawoma Districts of the Ashanti region, Anyinam, Ankaase, Osino, Dwenase, Kibi, Akim Oda, Akim Swedru, Aboabo, Suabe, Wenchi and Kade in the Birim Central and Atiwa East municipalities of the Eastern region. The other areas were Kotoye, Adaboa, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa in the Twifo-Hemang lower Denkyira and Odoben-Brakwa Districts of the Central region and Asankragua, Yireso, Kotoameso, Aboso in the Amenfi West and Tarkwa Districts of the Western region.
In addition, a total of 67 Changfan machines, 1 Excavator, 8 Water pumping machines and 12 Floating platforms were immobilisd. Items seized included 1 Nissan Navara pickup, 1 Kia truck, 1 Apsonic tricycle, 1 Generator set, 4 Water pumping machines, 9 batteries, 3 Control boards, 3 Monitors, 2 Volt metres and 1 Actuator controller. All persons arrested have been handed over to Aboso and Prestea Police stations.
