As a country we are really sitting on Gold & Diamonds & using them as stones to hunt game. I have travelled past the Shai Forest Reserve on several occasions but never thought it necessary to visit this placeToday on my trip to Denu, I took the very unusual route through Ho & I decide to visit the Shai Reserve to see what was there. As they say in Twi, “Ese wae ni na ense wae katrche”, forgive my Twi, I am an Anlo boy. But it is supposed to mean, “it is for your eyes only & you should not wait to be told”. I am told that this Reserve is among the smallest in Ghana & supposed not be that endowed, but I was blown away.
This is a park that had Baboons, we missed them, there are some Ostriches being farmed, there are some Antelops which we saw, reptiles, pythons etc, we also missed that, a lot of birds, including Guinea Fowls, and other animals & plants, great Rock, there is the Ancestral lands of the Shai Osu Doku people. Then there is the Suya Caves were the Shai people use to hide to wage their wars in the past.
This is a great work of God, getting there you see the Awesomeness of our God. I pity those who say there is no God. This natural caveformations could not have resulted from any great bang. This is the work of the God referred to in Isiah 9:6 6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
This is a great tourist & learning site that we are allowing to go Waste, what are we Ghanaians Buisness Leaders including yours Truely doing, but espercially you from this part of Ghana. I am sure there will be such great sites in my backyard Tsiame – Asadame area which I am missing, & I am here trying to take the spek out of others eyes. But forgive me, we need to do both, take out the loght from our own eyes & the speks in others as well.
Back to the issue, the District Assembly cannot not be crying for cash, there are so many rock out crops here, so we can do extreme sports, rock climbing, ecotourism, cultural tourism, here. We should have hotels, package tours etc. This need to be well put together, packaged & marketed. Graphic Communications Group Ltd, which has a mandate to the development of Ghana a key, will commit to highlighting these & help to grow this industry. Julius of Ghana Tourism Authority, I am coming to you with our support in hand. Watch your Daily Graphic, Mirror, Graphic Show Biz, Graphic Business, Graphic Sports for more on this.
Lets all join to build our country brick by brick.
