Short Address By The Managing Director Of Graphic Communications Group Limited, Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, At The Graphic /Accra Brewery Free Health Care/Registration Of NHIS  For Residents Of Adabraka On September 1, 2012

The Chief, queen and stool Elders of Adabraka Otuopkai, the Managing Director of Accra Brewery Ltd, the Osu-Klottey Scheme Manager (NHIS), medical team, ladies and gentlemen, I wish to welcome you all to this year’s free healthcare.
Today marks yet another important occasion for our company, Graphic Communications Group Ltd and the residents of Adabraka as we come again to deal with our health issues.
Instituted seven years ago and the 8th in the series, the Annual Free Healthcare for residents of Adabraka has come to stay and Graphic is happy to have collaborated with our immediate neighbours Accra Brewery Ltd on four occasions to bring health care to the Adabraka community.
This year’s exercise is giving an all-year round access to healthcare to residents of Adabraka by way of signing you freely on the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Graphic & Accra Brewery Ltd believes that the mark of any good corporate citizen is its willingness to contribute to the social and economic wellbeing of the very society that helps it to make profit. This is why we found it appropriate to work with ABL to share our profits with you the people of Adabraka – our landlord.
You have been kind to host us for 62 blessed years during which our business has grown from strength to strength, enabling us to make profit and declare a dividend of GH¢500,000.00 to the state at the end of the last financial year.
Stool elders, what we are doing today is not the only way in which Graphic helps society. Our company continues to help society through the Graphic Needy Trust Fund, which has sponsored over 160 needy patients to undergo costly medical treatment since 1989.
Graphic also helps with education towards building a pool of knowledgeable human resource for Ghana’s development. In this regard we run a scholarship scheme for the children of our employees and those of vendors and agents in second cycle institutions. More than 154 children have benefitted from the scheme since its introduction in 2004, and we keep adding on every academic year.
In addition to this, we subsidise the Junior Graphic, which is designed to help schoolchildren to improve on their reading and writing habit. Between January and June alone, we have spent GH¢191,459 on subsidy for the Junior Graphic alone.
Again, Graphic sponsors the Overall Best Student Award at the Ghana Institute of Journalism as well as the Best Student in Journalism at African University College of Communications.
Nii me, Naa me, Graphic is grateful to you and your people for creating a peaceful atmosphere for us to do business here. The part we play in bringing this free health care to you therefore is our token expression of thanks to you for being our kind host.

In the coming year we will continue to seek ways of serving the Chiefs and people of Adabraka. This will include selection 5 schools in Adabraka and we will supply copies of Junior Graphic to their libraries each week. We will also supply some jotters to some schools& also look to painting the school that we currently are having this event.
The Election is coming up & we all need to contribute to the Peace of our country
Health to Adabraka! Long live our relationship. Thank you.
