Operation Vanguard – Ops update dated 08 Jul 18

On Thursday 5th July 2018 the Western Forward Operation Base (FOB) of Operation Vanguard conducted land patrols to illegal mining sites at Adzakazu in Evalue Gwira District of the Western Region. Items dealt with included

• 1 Control Receiver and Switch – Seized 
• 22 Dynamite sticks – Seized 
• 9 Dynamite Charges and 1 Rim of Dynamite Fuses – Seized 
• 1 Excavator was immobilised on site.

No arrests were made.

FOBs West and Ashanti subsequently conducted land patrols on Friday 6th July 2018 to illegal mining sites at Asankragua in the Amenfi West District of the Western Region and Adaase in the Amanse Central District of the Ashanti Region respectively.

• 5 Ghanaian suspected illegal miners were arrested

and the following items ;

• 4 Diesel Pumps – seized
• 3 Shovels – seized
• 3 Pick Axes – seized
• 1 Hole Digger – seized
• 2 mini Washing Mats at the Adaase site – seized
• 13 Changfan Machines were immobilised,
• but no arrests made at the Asankragua site.

FOBs West and Ashanti again conducted land patrols on Sat 07 Jul 18 to illegal mining sites at Gambia along the river Ankobra in the Prestea Huni Valley District of the Western Region and Numereso and Fenaso in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.

• At the Gambia site, 13 Ghanaians and 2 Togolese suspected illegal miners were arrested

and the following items were ;

• 1 excavator – immobilised
• 15 Generator sets -immobilised
• 6 Pumping Machines -immobilised
• 30 Changfan Machines – immobilised
• 3 Dynamite Sticks and fuse -seized
• 3 excavator filters – seized.
• No arrests were made at Numereso and Fenaso but 1 Water Pumping machine was immobilised on site.
