Update on Operations of Operation Vanguard of 4th June 2018
Riverine and land patrols conducted by the Central Forward Operation Base (FOB) of Operation Vanguard on Wed 04 Jun 18 have led to the arrest of two Ghanaian Illegal Miners and immobilisation of mining equipment. The two were arrested during riverine patrols conducted at Nkwanta and Baadoa No. 2 in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region.
- 1 Excavator,
- 3 Water Pumping Machines and
- 2 Changfan Machines
were immobilised on illegal mining site at Atobiase in the Wassa East District during the land patrol.
In similar operations on the same day, FOB Ashanti conducted land patrols to illegal mining sites at Konongo in the Odumasi District and Kokotro in the Bekwai District of the Ashanti Region.
- 3 Excavators were immobilised, and the following items were seized;
- 11 Washing Carpets,
- 1 Chainsaw Machine,
- 2 Drilling Machines,
- 11 Batteries,
- 1 Total Angle Grinder,
- 1 Tuning Fork Vibration system,
- 3 Monitors,
- 3 Control Boards,
- 1 Electric Motor,
- 1 Fuse Board,
- 1 Weighing Scale,
- 1 hand held radio
- and 1 GPS.
In this operation no arrests were made.
Earlier on Monday 2nd of June 2018, the Eastern and Western FOBs conducted patrols to illegal mining sites in Nsutam in the Fanteakwa District of the Eastern Region and Dadieso-Abeneso in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region respectively.
Items immobilised in both patrols included
- 6 Exacavator
- 1 Chanfan machine.
Items seized included the Excavators’ batteries, starters, Air regulators, monitors, control boards and brain box, with no arrests were made.
