MOTIVATION FOR THE WEEK -13th May 2018

Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President of the United States, is quoted as saying, *“If a DOG will not come to you after having looked you in the face, you should go home and examine your conscience.”* Dog mirrors Man’s condition just as God mirrors man’s intentions. Just look at the connection: “`*DoG man GoD!*“`

Dogs die! But dogs live too!! Right up until they die, they live. They live brave, beautiful lives. They protect their families, love us and make our lives a little brighter. They don’t waste time being afraid of tomorrow. In simple terms, the dog is a loyal pet. But why, on that account, should we take him as an example? Because he is loyal to Man, not to other dogs. He’s at times more loyal to Man that many of us are to each other. Some say that, “A dog’s love is only second to that of a true mother.”

Mark Twain writes, “If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous he will not bite you.” But, this cannot be said so easily of us humans who don’t mind biting the hand that feeds or once fed us. Ingratitude denotes spiritual immaturity. “Infants” often do not appreciate what “parents” do for them. They have short memories. Their concern is not what you did for me yesterday, but what are you doing for me today. The past is meaningless and so is the future. They live for the present. Those who are mature are deeply appreciative of those who laboured in the past. They recognize those who labour during the present and provide for those who will be labouring in the future.

Dogs are not our whole life, but their example makes our lives whole. Count your blessings, not your worries; Count your gratitude, not your “altitude”; Count your end not your beginnings. Look around you: Say “thank you” and “please” often. You should never run out of people to thank and situations to be grateful for. *“If GOD will not come to you after having looked you in the face, you should go home and examine your conscience.”* DOG like GOD often reflect the truth about our lives. What a beautiful world it would be if people had “hearts like DOGs” or more like GOD.

May your Week not be Weak but with Him! I send you my prayerful wishes for the week
