MP for La Dadekotopon takes Safe Internet Day celebrations to the schools

The Hon. Deputy Minister for Communications and MP for La Dadekotopon, Mr. Vincent Sowah Odotei  takes the safe internet usage and for that matter safe digital practices to the JHS schools in La Dadekotopon Constituency. He visited La Roman, Presby and Wireless cluster of schools all as part of the Safe Internet Day celebrations.

The Deputy Minister runs a coding clinic in the  La Wireless cluster of schools with the support of Tigo, which now has merged with Airtel to form AirtelTigo.

When a child is protected a whole family is protected therefore it is important that we are all safe, secure and protected online. Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by the joint Insafe-INHOPE network, with other support of the European Commission, with funding provided by the Connecting Europe Facility programme.

 The aim of the Safer Internet Day Celebration is to create awareness on the Safe and responsible use of the Internet by all while we engage. Discuss the need for everybody’s involvement in ensuring that the space is being used with mutual respect at the back of the mind of everyone.

JI Ghana has created a website, https://jighana.org/sid-2018/#features, that aims to educate, share information and raise awareness of Safer Internet Day 2018.

The celebration, themed “Create, Connect and Share Respect: a safer Internet starts with you” will feature activities in all regions including a national session in Accra and training sessions in selected regions.

Two members for the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications MTN and Vodafone are sponsoring the 2018 Safe Internet Day celebrations.

The slogan for the celebration is  Create, Connect and share Respect.

Safer Internet Day celebration is a unique platform to share ideas and best practice and to raise awareness on responsible use of the Internet and digital Literacy.
