Resource the Immigration Service in the the 3 Amenfi Districts to help #StopGalamsey

The Ghana Immigration Service is facing an acute human resource personnel to combat illegal mining operations of foreigners especially Chinese nationals in the Western Corridor of the country.

This was disclosed by the Assistant Superintendent of Immigration, Mr F.K Appau at Wassa-Akropong during the 4th in the series of Town Hall meetings organized by the Media Coalition Against Galamsey in collaboration with the National Commission for Civil Education.

Mr F.K Appau explained to his audience that, as the officer in charge of three (3) districts namely Wassa-Amenfi East, West and Central, he has only 6 staff with no official vehicle to discharge their duties efficiently. He further disclosed that majority of the Chinese “galamseyers” do not have work permits yet they flout the laws of the land with impunity. When arrested, the District Courts impose meagre fines which the Chinese are able to pay without sweat and are subsequently released.

Commenting on the “Operation Vanguard”, Mr Appau noted that the government by oversight excluded personnel of Immigration Service from the group and appeal to the authority to invite them on board to strengthen the activities of “Operation Vanguard”.

Kenneth Ashigbey is the Chief Servant of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, is a great believer in Ghana & believes that with right Leadership in all aspect of Life within Ghana, we will hit the very top. I believe that Leadership is not just Political leadership but Leadership in very aspect of the word. Lets all shine in our corners where we are. We should also support each other as Ghanaians 1st before extending our hands to strangers. We should allow the Princes of Land to marry the Land not Strangers 1st.

This is not acceptable, Government should resource the Immigration service to fight these chinese people who have taken over the town. What is GIPC doing that we have chinese people selling cabbage in the town. Did they invest $100,000 before getting into retail sector reserved for Ghanaians. We are joking. What is Yoofi Grant doing?

What is the district chief executive also doing, allowing the people to brand the people in their language . She must be fired if she cannot fix what the NDC shamelessly supervised.
