Barekese dam hits with galamsey activities
What are we doing to our country. In the next 5 years we will be killing each other for water if we do not stop this debasing attitude as a country. Why will we allow our short term interest to take over our sustainability as a people. We have destoryed all our water bodies and we do not seem to be doing nothing about this.
Where is leadership in all of this. In the areas where this is rampant, what we doing. The middle class who come from these areas why are you quite. You are complicit in this destruction.
The leadership failure in this regards is all of us. It is not just the political class though they have major parts to play. The current government is only 2 months old, but we need to start seeing some actions. The Minister of Lands, we have heard you promises. Please let them turn into actions soon. The political will will be paramount.
Now lets come to the various factions of leadership.
We the media we are also to partly blame. Yes we have done a little bit but we need to do some more. Can we all decide to dedicate the months of April, May and June to sustained pressure and focus on this menace. Use our primetime and front pages to name and shame and praise where it is due. Unleash our investigative team in a coordinated manner to this task. Afterall we are the 4th estate of the realme. If the 1st 3 estates have failed us what are we doing?
Posterity will not be kind on us if we fail in this our duty. the State Own Media, GIBA, PRINPAG, NMC, GJA etc. We can do this. I will be following up with calls to all of you. Let start this project.
Next our chiefs, some of you are major disappointments, some of you are directly involved. How could some of you have galamsey happening directly behind your palaces and you are saying nothing about them. How could these heavy duty equipment operate within your jurisdictions and you claim you do not have any knowledge about them.
