28th Jan Sermon. 4th Sunday in Ordinary time & Climax of Restoration 2012

My take of today’s Sermon – forgive my typos, copied as Fathergave the sermon

4th Sunday in Ordinary Time Sunday, January 29, 2012
1. Often we hear about Christ & like the crowd we ask where is this power coming from
2. Theme for Mass which is the climax of Restoration 2012 is : be led by the Spirit – symbol used to represent the Holy Spirit are Water, Fire, Cloud. But the Holy Spirit is more than these. It is a Divine Person & is God. It is the 3rd person in the Holy Trinity
3. Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. – So the Holy Spirit is a person that can be grieved.
4. Act 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? – Yes we can lie to the Holy Spirit,
5. The Spirit speaks to us
6. He Teaches us too
7. The Holy Spirit is God.
8. LED – some of us are led by drink, money, women. Instead of following these things let’s be led by the Spirit,
9. The world is dark, that if you are not led by the Spirit which is light we will be groping in the dark & we will suffer.
10. 6 ways that facilitates us being led by the Holy Spirit.
11. Zch4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
12. But before getting into what will help us to be led by the Spirit we consider the hindrances
a. Doubt – not believing that The Spirit can speak to us. For some of us it might be because of our past failing, or the failings of some of Spiritual leaders.
b. Pride, note the spelling of Word, in the middle is ‘I’ – we want everything to revolve around us. The greatest weapon in any spiritual battle is humility
c. Fear – we afraid where the Spirit will take us to. Before the Spirit takes you anywhere He will put in us a desire.
d. In attentiveness – when we wake up we do not listen, even in prayer we only talk, not listen. We should make time to be quite & meditation.
e. Resistance to the prompting of the Spirit.
13. Things that leads us to the Holy Spirit are;
a. Prayer – (Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.) they gathered & prayed & the Holy Spirit.
b. Word of God -( Ps 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. )It directs us, where to go
c. The teaching Authority of the Church – 1st reading – same way in today’s world God speaks to us through the Pope, Bishops & Clergy.
d. Through fellow Christians – God’s use of Annanias to minister to Saul – Paul.
e. Personal revelations, dreams, visions, still voice. But Cross check it with God, through His word. Any revelation that goes contrary with the word of God, cannot becoming from God. Discern before you act.
f. Events of our lives, In the scheme of divine provident, nothing happens by accident – Pope John Paul. God uses our disappointments for His appointments.
14. Give the Holy Spirit chance in our lives. A mission without a vision will be confusion. We need to get a Vision from the Holy Spirit. We need to be Led by Spirit.

Kenneth Ashigbey is the Chief Servant of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, is a great believer in Ghana & believes that with right Leadership in all aspect of Life within Ghana, we will hit the very top. I believe that Leadership is not just Political leadership but Leadership in very aspect of the word. Lets all shine in our corners where we are. We should also support each other as Ghanaians 1st before extending our hands to strangers. We should allow the Princes of Land to marry the Land not Strangers 1st.

Am happy I captured same point, as that means I was attentive in church. My take most especially is LISTENING TO THE STILL SMALL VOICE DURING MY QUIET TIME as the thoughts keeping moving in and out. I really need to work on that. To be LED BY THE SPIRIT is a theme for me this year.

Thank you and love you
