Subjecting EC Chair to a vicious personal attack is most unfortunate – Hanna Tetteh & Nana Oye Lithur

Two of our women who have risen to the high office of Ministers of State, rightly so came to the support of their colleague. After sharing with you what the two men, Ace and Franklin shared. It is right that I bring to your attention what some of the women also had to say. Starting with Hanna Tetteh

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission is a qualified lawyer who has worked as a competent professional throughout her legal career and who also is the immediate past Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic education. To suggest that she had no competence to be appointed Electoral Commissioner and to subject her to a vicious personal attack is most unfortunate.

Any citizen can complain about the Electoral Commission, the way they are executing their mandate and preparing towards the upcoming elections. Those are the benefits of living in a democracy, but the personal attacks on the EC Chairperson are uncalled for, and are designed to undermine her credibility and her leadership of the organization. No political party is contesting elections against the electoral commission, we should not undermine the integrity of the organization or the Chairperson on the back of allegations that have not, and most likely can not be substantiated.

These are a sample of comments to Mad Hanna Tetteh’s post

Maxwell Duncan-Dugan its just unfortunate. this pull him down attitude people are using is amazing. destroy somebody for personal gains? Are we not the same people who fill the worship centres? God save us!

Larry Gbevlo-Lartey Simply unacceptable! Even in war there are things you cannot do. A Politician taking undue liberty of a campaign platform in a manner such as this should face the scorn of our collective decency as a people. The courtroom is where he should next be speaking.

The Parliament of Ghana in Session

Stan Xoese Dogbe Gyamfi,
As noted by the Hon. Minister, you and indeed any citizen of Ghana can complain and criticize the operations of the EC but subjecting the Chair to insults, personal attacks and threats should not be encouraged.

Some may disagree with your review of her short tenure but that disagreement with you should not lead to insults and attacks on your person. The issues upon which some persons are going to court, were they done or actioned by her? Even they were doing her short tenure, is she not Chair of a Commission that has other members?

To Stan’s comment Albert Boafo Had this rationalization to give “And look who’s talking? So on the basis of their own logic, Georgina Woode must have been sucking a monster ****. The monster **** of John Agyekum Kuffuor and may have transitioned to Little Willie’s wee willy Winkie….And they say he’s the gem.

The Minister Hanna Tetteh responded and said “Albert, two wrongs don’t make a right. The insinuations against the CJ are also not right, my point is no woman deserves that.”

I also responded to Albert Boafo too on Facebook Edem Ashigbi  We should stop the equalization. If was done in the past, it was wrong, but it is worse if we did not learn from it.

This is the post of Nana Oye Lithur

I have just read a chauvinistic insulting comment attributed to the NPP Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyepong against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mrs Charlotte Osei.

Nana-Oye-Lithur Subjecting EC Chair to a vicious personal attack is most unfortunate - Hanna Tetteh & Nana Oye Lithur
Nana Oye Lithur

Hon. Kennedy Agyepong if you said what has been attributed to you, it is very regrettable and you should apologise to the Chair of the Electoral Commission immediately.
Women of Ghana will not countenance such comments and personal attacks on women who have committed to serve Ghana in public office.
You are in Public Office and should promote non-discrimation, respect for human dignity and gender equality by your comments and conduct.
What you said was very wrong. Do the honourable thing and apologise.Be man enough to apologise.
Be True to our Ghanaian values and respect our women.
