Graphic’s longest subscriber congratulates Graphic MD
Story: Joseph Kyei-Boateng, Kumasi GRAPHIC’s longest subscriber, Mr. Yorson Kwaku Addai-Nsiah, has congratulated the Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, for being honoured as an Ambassador of Peace. Mr Addai-Nsiah’s congratulations come after the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) honoured him and five others for their immense contribution to peace and the development of Ghana and the West African sub-region at a ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
The MD was selected for the honour because of his initiative of engaging stakeholders at town hall meetings and during regional tours to spread the message of peace before, during and after the December 2012 elections. Speaking to the Daily Graphic in an interview in Kumasi, the Kumasi-based Graphic subscriber said Mr Ashigbey deserves applause for his recognition of contribution to the country’s development, adding that positive reinforcement is due to the one who deserves it. “Mr Ashigbey has fought a winning battle and the little some of us can do to commend his praise-worthiness is to applaud him for the honour”, he stated.
He also commended the entire management of the GCGL for supporting the MD in achieving that feat. He asked that the MD continue to impact society positively for the betterment of posterity. Mr Addai-Nsiah had been subscribing to a copy of the Daily Graphic since 1956—six years after the inception of the paper in Kumasi, and it was not until the year 2006 that the then Editor of the Daily Graphic (now General Manager, Newspapers of the GCGL), Mr Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafo gave him free subscription till now.
Currently, management has approved binding most of his copies of the paper for him free of charge to enhance easy reference. He has been subscribing to the Daily Graphic flagship of the GCGL for 50 uninterrupted years and has kept records from the paper, including the names of editors and reporters.
