Retraction and apology to Ken Ashigbey by Assase Radio
How Asaase Radio could interview someone else and attribute that whole conversation of that unknown person to me beats my imagination. They have apologised on their website but are yet to explain to me how this happened. This story opened me up to a lot of opprobrium. But as a media advocate, I have to take it on my chin. Most of the people I accuse of highhandedness when the media wrongs them are telling, you see how it feels. We as media people need to work to high standards and according to our ethics.
This is not right. Check what they wrote in their apology:
We inadvertently attributed a story to the CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, Ken Ashigbey, accompanied by his picture. We apologise for the error.
On Friday 1 April 2022, Asaaseradio.com published a story with the headline: “Panic withdrawals hit MoMo wallets over E-Levy, says Ashigbey”.
We inadvertently attributed the story to the CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, Ken Ashigbey, accompanied by his picture. We wish to apologise to Ashigbey for any inconvenience the error may have caused his hard-earned reputation.
The story has been removed from our website and other social media platforms and we have apologised to him for this lapse.
