Alarm – Something Awful in Ghana – Ben Dotse Malor
This is how my brother, Ben Dotsei Malor, from Seva put the assassination of Ahmed on facebook. It is really very sad and I pray something happens immediately. One thing I know for sure you wicked and evil people you shall be exposed for who and what you are. This is what Ben had to say;
Last night an investigative journalist was shot and killed in Accra, by yet unknown assailants, in a manner that’s indicative of an assassination or a contract killing. Ahmed Hussein-Suale worked with Ghana’s renowned investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who has used many undercover techniques to expose grave corruption across the spectrum in Ghana. I don’t recall any journalist being murdered in this brutal and direct fashion in Ghana.
- What makes yesterday’s murder more troubling is the fact that several weeks back, a brazen, controversial, rich-but-uncouth and bad-tempered Member of Parliament had set out to call on Live TV for this same Ahmed to be violently attacked. In this video he described Ahmed as “very dangerous,” and a “bad boy” with offers to pay or compensate anyone who visited violence upon him. This MP went to the extent of showing images of Ahmed and identifying where the victim lived. No doubt, therefore, that many are saying this MP has a case to answer. Clearly a case of “incitement to violence,” I’m sure.
- There are very serious concerns that every decent, law-abiding, and patriotic Ghanaian should have now:
- UNPRECEDENTED: It is not common for any Ghanaian, especially a professional, to be murdered in this blatant, brazen, and brutal manner. The killers were not acting like armed robbers. They were clearly not after his money, his car, his phone(s), or earthly possessions. They were just after his life. If Ahmed can be murdered in this manner then who is safe in Ghana. If he could be killed in this way then who could be next?
- FACTS, EVIDENCE, AND INVESTIGATION: It is a fact that the controversial MP called for violence against Ahmed. But we should be careful not to jump to any hasty conclusions. Finding any links between the threat and the murder is going to be critical. The MP clearly needs to be interrogated, at least. In my village, telling someone, “You will see” or “I will show you” is a threat considered by local judges as capable of being carried to its extreme conclusion – death.
- THE GHANA POLICE: For the sake of peace and security in Ghana, the Ghana Police have a serious responsibility to find Ahmed’s killers and show if there are other motives for his murder, other than the MP’s violent threat on his life. The investigators will have to look into whether there are other persons or parties with any motives to take the life of this young man.
- PUBLIC THREATS OF DEATH OR VIOLENCE CANNOT BE IGNORED ANY MORE: Ghanaians cannot live in a society where threats of death or violence are issued – by anyone, especially violence-minded loud-mouth lawmakers, who are then protected, defended, and left un-arrested.
- WE ARE ALL INVOLVED: All levels of Leadership – journalists, the clergy, the Government, traditional authorities – in Ghana must rise up and take action before brazen acts of murder and assassination become common occurrences in Kwame Nkrumah”s beloved Ghana.
