Another Attack on a Journalist by a Policeman

Another attack has been recorded against a journalist in Ghana. This is happening in 2018, a period of democracy – This time again it is by a Policeman, persons who are employed and paid by our taxes. A Metro TV Camera man was beaten whiles covering the Adenta Protest on Monday 12th November 2018.

Thank God he was caught on video & there is the audio of the interaction as well. The other policemen there will not arrest him for the crime that he has committed but rather want to water down the incidence. That will not wash!!! A double handed slap is not a pat of love.

Media Fraternity in Ghana, you need to rise up and demand your right for Justice. If it was the media ganging up and beating up a policeman, the Police will use all the force at their disposal to attack the media and ensure that they get retribution.

So Ghanaian Media you need to rise up together and use the all the constitutional and legitimate power that you can command to demand and extract justice. If you allow this to happen and the people who beat you up, know that there is no repercussion for beating you. Know that if we continue they way we are going now, very soon we will be attending a funeral of a journalist who will be beaten and killed in the line of duty.

This should stop here and now. I pray the Management of Metro TV, Leadership of GJA, the NMC, West Africa Media Foundation, and other well-meaning Ghanaians will rise up and ensure that justice is done.

Least I forget, one Presidential Candidate of a Ghanaian Political Party in whose house a journalist was beaten. Do not think you and your friends are off the hook. We are coming for our kilo of flesh – justice. #Justice4MetroTVCameraman

I believe that Leadership is not just Political leadership but Leadership in very aspect of the word. Lets all shine in our corners where we are. We should also support each other as Ghanaians 1st before extending our hands to strangers. We should allow the Princes of Land to marry the Land not Strangers 1st.
