Operation Vanguard Arrest 9 Galamseyers Nkyensidanho

This story is based on the report by Operation Vanguard of its work on the 14th of  September 2018 in the Western and Central Region. The question I want to ask is what is going to happen to these people who have been arrested

9 Ghanaians suspected of engaging in illegal mining have been arrested during patrols conducted by the Western Forward Operating Base (FOB) of Operation Vanguard on 14 Sept 18. The patrol was conducted at Nkyensidanho in the Amenfi Central District of the Western Region.

From the report you will find out that these galamseyers had  4 Hand-held Radio that they use to communicate between themselves and other scouts who give them information when the Officers and Men of Operation Vanguard are on their operations.  

Other items seized included 2 Mossberg pump-action guns, 14 Cartridges, 3 Sany Control Board, 1 Sany Fuse, 2 Sany monitors, and 8 Headlamps.

Suspects have since been handed over to the Adjakamanso Police Station for further investigation. My call is to the media to follow up with Adjakamanso Police to find out what is happening to this case. Will it become like another of these cases that Operation Vanguard will arrest but the suspects are granted bail to return to this old ways? 

Similar operation were conducted on the same day by the Eastern and Ashanti FOBs at Kyebi and Asiakwa in the  East Akim municipality of the Eastern Region and Mpatasie in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.

One (1) excavator was immobilised whilst 2 Excavator monitors, 1 Battery, 1 Control Board, 2 Shovels and 2 Washing Pans were seized. No arrest was made.
