Update on Operation Vanguard activities on 13th August 2018

This is a report on the activities as reported by the Commander of Operation Vanguard. The last line of the report is that “All suspects have been handed over to the Obuasi Police for further investigation.” We hope the the media in Obuasi will follow up to see what has happened to these suspects? have they been taken to court, is prosecution taking place. We need to know.  Below is the report from Operation Vanguard with pictorial evidence 

The Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ashanti of Operation Vanguard has arrested 4 Ghanaians for engaging in illegal mining in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti region on Monday 13 August 2018.

Other FOBs also conducted patrols on the same day but there was no arrest. The patrols were conducted in Bredi, Yadome, Anorkrom in the Adansi Akrofuom and Adansi South Districts of the Ashanti region, Nkotumso in the Central region and Nyafoman, Dadekrom, Musco, Akobo Akyem Mampong, Ankaase in the Birim North and Atiwa Districts of the Eastern region.

Items seized included 1 Motor bike, 5 Water pumping machines, 2 locally manufactured guns.

Items immobilised were 4 Water hoses, 55 Changfan machines, 20 Floating platforms and 2 Wooden structures.

All suspects have been handed over to the Obuasi Police for further investigation.
