4 Chinese, 5 Ghanaians Galamsayers Arrested By Operation Vanguard

The Chinese challenge with galamsey continues to be confirmed by empirical data. When I made a presentation at the recent Ministry of Cheiftancy and Religious Affairs, I mentioned that without dealing with the Chinese involvement we cannot solve this problem. One of the Regional Ministers in a private conversation agreed with me and said that strengthening the hands of Immigration Service can help deal with this challenge, just asking them, the Chinese, for work permits. Check another report from Operation Vanguard, out of the 9 people arrested 44.44% are Chinese. Considering the ratio of Ghanaians to Chinese in Ghana, this is not acceptable. For all Operation Vanguard arrest, at least 88% of all foreigners are Chinese and 13% of all arrest including Ghanaians are also Chinese.  We need to deal with the Chinese phenomenon if we want to solve the galamsey menace.

The Joint Task Force (JTF) of Operation Vanguard (OV) has arrested 4 Chinese nationals and 5 Ghanaians engage in galamsey on the 19 and 20 June 2018 at Prestea/Huni Valley and Upper Denkyira West Districts.
