Tribute to my brother, friend, prophet, pastor and Apostle
Jesus is alive and death is conquered,
He has risen from the grave;
Satan’s mighty forces have been beaten
Now is Jesus, strong to save.
O death, where is your victory?
What can the grave do?
What can it do to you Apostle?
For Christ has risen from death’s prison.
God has spoken, hell is broken,
And my Lord has set you Efo Kofi free!
Now, you do not fear to cross the river;
I know why my Saviour died!
Even though the crossing may be painful,
Yes your going has left so much pain
Yes Christ is on the other side to receive you.
Praise His name with shouts of acclamation
Our salvation now is sure!
He came back to give us all this blessing:
Peace be with you, Apostle evermore and may you rest
peacefully in the bosom of Lord Jesus Christ!
Kofi Amofah-Acheampong, my brother, friend, Pastor and Apostle. It is true as they say that “some friends stick closer than a brother”. You were the blood brother I never had. We met when I was General Manager of JoyFm and you were General Manager of Premiere MediaCom. I am not sure even we know how we moved from media-owner cum agency-relationship to becoming friends and to brothers.
You were always there for me and we share so many things together. A lot of them I will only keep in my memory and I will not share here. My real tribute to you, I pay on a daily basis in private, as I am not sure I have the competence to translate in onto paper. Only you will understand a lot of the things we shared, people will not comprehend them.
One thing I know for sure you are in heaven with the church triumphant, as you have fought your portion of the battle with the church militant. You are saying with the Apostle in 2nd Tim 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course I have kept the faith. And Christ says to you vs. 8 ‘Henceforth there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give you at that day; and not to you only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.
You were always there for me in good and bad times, through my trying times and in joyous times. We share all these moments together. From my days at JoyFm where you will come to my assistance when I needed adverts to shore my revenues, when I needed cash you were the first one I will call for payments and you will responded even when there was no debt to pay, you will help with prepayments. We shared and created many concepts and ideas for Radio. You were great in everything you did and full of ideas.
You bought me my first audio bible, a set of CDs, which I still carry. We moved to spending long times in Labone after work to spending times together in prayer.
You mutated from being a friend to a Brother-Boss when we run FTA DSTV together. Those were interesting times that we spend together running that business. You were magnanimous and encouraged me when the opportunity came for me to become MD of OMP. Your support was not only physical but also more spiritual.
You were one of the first persons I will call and share any news with and you had such good listening ear and always had the right answer and advise in any situation. You were a vessel that God used to bless our generation.
When I went back to Multimedia you were a pillar of support, we prayed and shared ideas on projects. You were very instrumental in the successful organization of the 1st ever and till today the only 24 hours of continuous prayer, which was carried on TV for the nation, the Prayerthon. God will remember you for that and other support you have given us, Ghana and Africa. The generation after you draw from God’s fountain of grace because you allowed Him to use you.
You moved from being my brother to my pastor, apostle and prophet. You led me into Graphic when I step foot there on the first day when I took on the job. And you have constantly been my Moses who has held his hand up in prayer, while me the Joshua had been in battle.
Apostle who will I call at midnight to pray with, who will I call to share a thought with, an idea that needs refining and major decision I am about to take. Alas I did not get the opportunity of Elisha as he asked of Elijah in 2 Kings 2:- 9 to give me a double portion of the Holy Spirit you had. Even in your time of pain you wanted to protect me oh Efo Kofi.
But I am comforted that you are with Christ, you rode the fiery chariot and horses into heaven. Just as you prayed with me when you were on earth you will pray for me where you are. You will pray for Gifty and the kids you have left behind.
Apostle we will continue with the work you started and devoted your very life to. The last conversation we had, I still remember and my commitment to the projects, especially the Ishmael Project I will keep. You are with the God you so diligently served and I pray that your mantle will fall on the your children both biological and we the spiritual ones you begot, so like Elijah in 2 Kings 2:14 we will take your mantle and smote the waters like you did and continue the work you started to the Glory of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Eternal rest grant to you, Apostle, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon you.
May your soul and the soul of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in perfect peace.
Join me sing the last verse of this song
Death will come one day to me
Jesus cast me not from thee
Dying let me still abide
In Thy heart and wounded side.
Efo Kofi, Apostle hede nyia, dzidzo l3 fafa m3
