Hearts walk pass AS Police to reach Confederation cup next stage with a one nil goal aggregate.
The continental club masters, Accra Hearts of Oak, Â are through to the next stage of the CAF Confederation cup after holding AS Police to a goalless drawn game in Benin. Hearts of Oak entered into the second leg tier in Benin with a one nil first leg advantage and the Coach Herbert Add ensured that they built a strong defense to repulse the host attacks.
Selassie Adjei’s first leg goal was what gave the 2002 Champions League winners an edge over AS Police after a thrilling 90 minutes of action in Benin. Coach Herbert Addo who approached the match with an attacking mentality having recorded a narrow one nil home win ensured his players fought till the stipulated time to progress to the next stage of the continental tournament.
Thanks to the Phobian goalie Soulama Abdoula who saved a penalty for coach Herber Addo’s indefatigable Hearts team to deny the host pick a lead in the crunchy encounter. The Rainbow colours thus qualify with a one nil aggregate and will either face Cameroonian side Unisport Bafang or Olympique of Senegal.
Hearts beat sworn rivals Asante Kotoko to win the prestigious CAF Confederation cup in 2005 at the Baba Yara sports stadium.
