What I love about Ghana- Eden Henry Masoperh
Ghana is one of the most peaceful nations in Africa. We were the first sub-saharan country in Africa to gain independence. We share borders with Togo, Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire. Among these countries, Ghana is noted for its hospitality.
Ghana is well known for its tourist sites and natural resources like gold, bauxite, diamonds and oil. Thanks to its friendly people Ghana is becoming an increasingly popular destination for tourists all over the world. We Ghanaians enjoy our natural resources happily. Some of our tourist sites are: Akosombo dam and the Volta lake.
Compared to other countries in Africa, Ghana is relatively peaceful. Ghanaians are very blessed because we have not experienced what our neighbouring countries have. Ghanaians are very tolerant compared to Nigerians.
Ghanaian cultural practices, festivals and foods are splendid. One such cultural practice is bowing down and greeting elders when passing. Some of our festivals are Hogbetsotso celebrated by the Ewes. This festival reminds the Ewes of their ancestorial lands where they lived before they settled here in Ghana. Another festival is Homowo. Homowo is a festival celebrated by Gas which means shame on hunger. During this festival they eat kpokpoi. These festivals happen to bring more and more family members together and whilst they are together, they settle various disputes among themselves which to me is the best part of it all.
Ghanaians are trying to build good roads. Their determination to fix roads puts a smile on my face because, there are many roads that need a lot of attention. If there are good roads the accidents shall surely decrease.
Ghana is also one of the best football countries in world. We are very good and if we try a little harder we will be on top of all football teams. We have good players like Andre and Jordan Ayew. Together with countries like Brazil and Italy, we share the privilege of being known as one of the countries which produces good footballers.
The restaurants and shopping malls are very nice. The government is trying to make Ghanaians extremely happy by bringing new places where we can eat. Two examples are: Peter Pan and KFC. This really makes me happy.
Ghanaian schools are really developing. An example is my school, Angels Specialist School International. Now we are using the Cambridge syllabus. This is to prove that Ghana, as a nation is developing in education. Schools in Ghana are now capable of representing the whole Africa. An example is when the Spelling Bee competition was in process, my school represented the whole of Ghana and came out tops. So now you see, Ghana as a nation has developed in education.
Thanks to Ghanaian hospitality Ghana is becoming a popular tourist destination and this is what I love about Ghana our homeland.
